See, dearest brothers, peace has been restored to the church, and what lately seemed difficult to the unbelieving and impossible to the faithless, our security has been restored by divine help and vengeance. Our minds return to gladness, and, the storm and cloud of oppression dispersed, calm and serenity have shone out again. Praises must be given to God, and his benefits and gifts celebrated with thanksgiving, although our voice did not cease giving thanks even in the persecution. For the enemy cannot be allowed so much power that we who love God with our whole heart and soul and strength should not proclaim his blessings and praises always and everywhere with glory. The day longed for by everyone's prayers has come, and after the dreadful and hideous darkness of a long night, the world has shone out, lit by the light of the Lord.
