Refutation of All Heresies 10.27.2

Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.

Summary: For Noetus the one God is invisible or visible, unbegotten or born, impassible or suffering, and is called Son at different times.

English · Claude translation

and that he is invisible when he is not seen, but visible when he is seen; unbegotten when he is not begotten, but begotten when he is begotten of a virgin; impassible and immortal when he does not suffer or die, but when sufferings come upon him, he suffers and dies. They think that this Father himself is called Son at different times according to what happens.
