Refutation of All Heresies 8.16.1
Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.
Summary: Tatian, Justin's disciple, taught invisible Aeons, called marriage corruption, and denied Adam's salvation.
English · Claude translation
Tatian, who also became a disciple of Justin the martyr, did not think the same as his teacher, but attempting some novelties he spoke of certain invisible Aeons, telling myths like those of the followers of Valentinus. And he says that marriage is corruption, like Marcion. And he claims that Adam is not saved, because he became the author of disobedience. These, then, are the teachings of Tatian.
