Καὶ πρὸς τούτοις ἐμοσχοποιήσατε καὶ πρὸς τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν ἀλλογενῶν πορνεῦσαι καὶ εἰδωλολατρῆσαι ἐσπουδάσατε, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα πάλιν, τῆς γῆς ὑμῖν παραδοθείσης μετὰ δυνάμεως τοσαύτης, ὡς καὶ τὸν ἥλιον θεάσασθαι ὑμᾶς προστάξει τοῦ ἀνδρὸς ἐκείνου τοῦ ἐπονομασθέντος τῷ Ἰησοῦ ὀνόματι σταθέντα ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ καὶ μὴ δύναντα μέχρι ὡρῶν τριάκοντα ἕξ, καὶ τὰς ἄλλας πάσας δυνάμεις τὰς κατὰ καιρὸν γεγενημένας ὑμῖν· ὧν καὶ ἄλλην μίαν καταριθμῆσαι τανῦν εἶναί μοι δοκεῖ· συναίρεται γὰρ πρὸς τὸ καὶ ἐξ αὐτῆς συνιέναι ὑμᾶς τὸν Ἰησοῦν, ὃν καὶ ἡμεῖς ἐπέγνωμεν Χριστὸν υἱὸν θεοῦ, σταυρωθέντα καὶ ἀναστάντα καὶ ἀνεληλυθότα εἰς τοὺς οὐρανοὺς καὶ πάλιν παραγενησόμενον κριτὴν πάντων ἁπλῶς ἀνθρώπων μέχρις αὐτοῦ Ἀδάμ.
English · Claude translation
“And besides these things you made the calf and were eager to commit fornication with the daughters of foreigners and to worship idols; and afterward again, when the land had been handed over to you with such power that you saw the sun, at the command of that man named with the name of Jesus, standing still in heaven and not setting for thirty-six hours, and all the other mighty works done for you in their time; of which it seems to me right to recount one more now; for it contributes to your understanding from it too that Jesus, whom we too have recognized as Christ the Son of God, crucified and risen and gone up into the heavens and coming again as judge of all men without exception back to Adam himself.
