Κἀγὼ ἀπεκρινάμην· Ἤδη καὶ τοῦτο ἀποδέδεικταί μοι, ὦ ἄνδρες, ἐν τοῖς προανιστορημένοις λόγοις τῶν προφητειῶν, οὓς διʼ ὑμᾶς πάλιν ἀναμιμνησκόμενος καὶ ἐξηγούμενος πειράσομαι καὶ εἰς τὴν περὶ τούτου συγκατάθεσιν ἀγαγεῖν ὑμᾶς. Ὁ γοῦν λόγος ὃν ἔφη Ἡσαΐας· Τὴν γενεὰν αὐτοῦ τίς διηγήσεται; Ὅτι αἴρεται ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἡ ζωὴ αὐτοῦ· οὐ δοκεῖ σοι λελέχθαι ὡς οὐκ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἔχοντος τὸ γένος τοῦ διὰ τὰς ἀνομίας τοῦ λαοῦ εἰς θάνατον παραδεδόσθαι εἰρημένου ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ; Περὶ οὗ καὶ Μωσῆς τοῦ αἵματος, ὡς προέφην, αἵματι σταφυλῆς, ἐν παραβολῇ εἰπών, τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ πλυνεῖν ἔφη, ὡς τοῦ αἵματος αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐξ ἀνθρωπείου σπέρματος γεγεννημένου ἀλλʼ ἐκ θελήματος θεοῦ.

And I answered, “This too has already been proved by me, sirs, in the words of the prophecies recounted before, which I will try to recall and explain again for your sake, to bring you to agreement about this. The word, then, which Isaiah spoke: ‘Who shall declare his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth,’ does it not seem to you to be said as of one whose descent is not from men, who is said by God to be handed over to death because of the transgressions of the people? Of whose blood Moses too, as I said before, speaking in a parable, said that he would wash his robe in the blood of the grape, as though his blood were not begotten of human seed but of the will of God.
