Dialogue with Trypho 85.5

“And now, if I say this to you, even if I have repeated myself often, I know it is not out of place. For it would be ridiculous to see the sun and the moon and the other stars always taking the same course and making the turns of the seasons, and to see that a man who counts, if asked how much two times two is, will not stop saying again that it is four because he has often said it, and that other things that are firmly agreed are always said and agreed in the same way; but that one who makes discourses from the prophetic Scriptures should leave them and not always cite the same Scriptures, but think that he can produce something better than the Scripture.
