οὐ μὴν οὐδʼ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος· ›δὸς‹ ἢ ›παράσχες‹ ἢ ›εὐεργέτησον‹ ἢ ›βοήθησον‹, ›φίλον‹ δὲ ›ποίησαι‹· ὁ δὲ φίλος οὐκ ἐκ μιᾶς δόσεως γίνεται, ἀλλʼ ἐξ ὅλης ἀναπαύσεως καὶ συνουσίας μακρᾶς· οὔτε γὰρ ἡ πίστις οὔτε ἡ ἀγάπη οὔτε ἡ καρτερία μιᾶς ἡμέρας, ἀλλʼ »ὁ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος, οὗτος σωθήσεται«.

English · Claude translation

Nor did the Lord say, ‘Give,’ or ‘Provide,’ or ‘Do good,’ or ‘Help,’ but ‘Make a friend’; and a friend is made not from one gift, but from complete refreshment and long companionship. For neither faith, nor love, nor endurance is a matter of one day, but “the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
