Ἄξιον δὴ ἐνταῦθα γενομένους διερευνῆσαι καὶ τῶν ἄλλων τῶν μετὰ Μωσέα παρὰ τοῖς Ἑβραίοις προφητῶν τοὺς χρόνους. Μετὰ τὴν Μωυσέως τοῦ βίου τελευτὴν διαδέχεται τὴν ἡγεμονίαν τοῦ λαοῦ Ἰησοῦς πολεμῶν μὲν ἔτη † ξε΄, ἐν δὲ τῇ γῇ τῇ ἀγαθῇ ἄλλα πέντε καὶ εἴκοσι ἀναπαυσάμενος. ὡς δὲ τὸ βιβλίον τοῦ Ἰησοῦ περιέχει, διεδέξατο τὸν Μωυσέα ὁ προειρημένος ἀνὴρ ἔτη κζ΄. ἔπειτα ἁμαρτόντες οἱ Ἑβραῖοι παραδίδονται Χουσαχὰρ βασιλεῖ Μεσοποταμίας ἔτεσιν ὀκτώ, ὡς ἡ τῶν Κριτῶν ἱστορεῖ βίβλος· δεηθέντες δὲ ὕστερον τοῦ θεοῦ λαμβάνουσιν ἡγεμόνα Γοθονιὴλ τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Χαλὲβ τὸν νεώτερον ἐκ φυλῆς Ἰούδα, ὃς ἀποκτείνας τὸν τῆς Μεσοποταμίας βασιλέα ἦρξε τοῦ λαοῦ ἔτεσιν ἐφεξῆς ν΄. καὶ πάλιν ἁμαρτόντες παρεδόθησαν Αἰγλὼμ βασιλεῖ Μωαβιτῶν ἔτεσιν ὀκτωκαίδεκα, ἐπιστρεψάντων δὲ αὐτῶν αὖθις ἡγήσατο αὐτῶν Ἀὼδ ἔτεσιν ὀγδοήκοντα, ἀνὴρ ἀμφοτεροδέξιος ἐκ φυλῆς Ἐφραΐμ· οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ ἀνελὼν τὸν Αἰγλώμ.

Having come here, it is worth examining the times of the other prophets among the Hebrews after Moses. After the end of Moses' life, Joshua succeeded to the leadership of the people, fighting for … years and resting in the good land another twenty-five. As the book of Joshua contains, the man just mentioned succeeded Moses for twenty-seven years. Then the Hebrews, having sinned, were handed over to Chushan, king of Mesopotamia, for eight years, as the book of Judges relates; and afterward, having prayed to God, they received as leader Othniel, the younger brother of Caleb, of the tribe of Judah, who killed the king of Mesopotamia and ruled the people for fifty years. And again, having sinned, they were handed over to Eglon, king of the Moabites, for eighteen years; and when they turned back, Ehud led them for eighty years, a man ambidextrous, of the tribe of Ephraim; he is the one who killed Eglon.
