Ὥστε τεμόντας ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τῶν ψυχῶν ὑμῶν τὴν ἐλπίδα ταύτην σπουδάσαι δεῖ ἐπιγνῶναι, διʼ ἧς ὁδοῦ ἄφεσις ὑμῖν τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν γενήσεται καὶ ἐλπὶς τῆς κληρονομίας τῶν κατηγγελμένων ἀγαθῶν· ἔστι δʼ οὐκ ἄλλη ἢ αὕτη, ἵνα τοῦτον τὸν Χριστὸν ἐπιγνόντες καὶ λουσάμενοι τὸ ὑπὲρ ἀφέσεως ἁμαρτιῶν διὰ Ἡσαίου κηρυχθὲν λουτρὸν ἀναμαρτήτως λοιπὸν ζήσητε.

“So you must cut off this hope from your souls and hasten to learn by what way forgiveness of sins will come to you and hope of inheriting the good things announced; and there is no other than this: that, having come to know this Christ and having been washed with the washing proclaimed by Isaiah for the forgiveness of sins, you should live sinlessly from now on.”
