English · Claude translation

So after a day or two, when constant companionship had satisfied the eagerness of our longing, and by telling each other in turn we had learned what we did not know about each other through our separation, we decided to go to Ostia, a most delightful town, because sea bathing would be a pleasant and suitable treatment for my body in drying up its humours; and besides, the vintage holidays had released me from my cares in the courts. For at that time, after the summer days, autumn was turning toward milder weather.
